Bonus track

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A bonus track is a piece of music that is added to the normal track list when a new or first edition of a music album or music DVD is made, thus extending the actual album. These can be forgotten single B-sides, unreleased live tracks, interviews, multimedia content or a studio committee that does not stylistically match the title sequence of the respective album.

When the music CD was introduced , many LPs that had already been released were re-released as CDs enriched with bonus tracks in order to encourage LP owners to buy the same album again. Bonus tracks are also often added to acoustically revised releases in order to increase the attractiveness of the CD.
