from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ludwig "Luigi" Hussak (born July 31, 1883 , † July 5, 1965 ) was an Austrian football player . The fast and powerful winger took part in the 1912 Olympic Games with the Austrian national soccer team and scored the first goal in the history of Vienna Austria .

Career

Ludwig Hussak began his football career with cricket players , where he soon became one of the club's strongest strikers. As early as April 7, 1904, he was appointed to the association team for the game against the English amateur team Corinthians, on April 9, 1905 he finally played for the first time for the national team against Hungary . On October 29, 1910, Ludwig Hussak joined many of his fellow cricket players and, due to disputes with the old club, founded the Viennese amateur sports club with them - today's Austria Wien. Ludwig Hussak was appointed captain of the amateurs and also scored the first goal for the new club in the game against the Rudolfsheimer Sportvereinigung (1: 1). In the championship, however, the club led by Hussak had no chance. The striker still accompanied the national team to the Olympic Games in Stockholm 1912, where he reached 6th place with the team and also scored a goal in the 5-1 victory over Italy . The career of the first Austria captain ended abruptly with the outbreak of the First World War . Ludwig Hussak became a prisoner of war in Siberia, from which he did not return until 1921.

Hussak was also the captain of the Vienna Football Association. From the general assembly on March 6, 1955, he only exercised the office of association trainer. At the aforementioned meeting he was awarded the Golden Badge of Honor by the WFV.

Honors

Ludwig Hussak was made honorary captain on the 10th anniversary of the amateurs - an honor that was only awarded to Walter Nausch 40 years later . The city of Vienna also honored the striker with the award of the sports badge on February 15, 1954 to "one of the most prominent and popular footballers of the early days of this sport in Vienna". In 1959 he was awarded the Golden Merit of the Republic of Austria .
