The Athletic Sports Club Viktoria Wien was an Austrian athletic and football club from the capital Vienna . The Viktoria football section is one of the founding members of the first official Austrian championship in 1911.

history

Viktoria Wien was founded in 1898. A few years after its founding, the association swapped the Latin / English form of the name Victoria with "c" for the German form and from then on wrote itself with a "k" in the name.

The greatest success of the club was the entry into the final of the Challenge Cup in the game year 1898/99. The final game against First Vienna FC was clearly lost on March 5, 1899 with 1: 4. In the 1901/02 season, the club played in the second class of the championship advertised by the Austrian Football Union (the first class played for the Wiener Tagblatt-Pokal ), but only finished fourth and last place.

In the following years a good team grew up in the club and Viktoria was accepted into 1st class by the ÖFV for the first - later canceled and declared unofficial - mandatory championship in 1906/07. In this class, the Viktoria was able to hold due to their playing strength until the introduction of the official championship in 1911/12 .

In the first season of the Austrian championship, despite the merger with the Vienna Sports Association on April 11, 1911, the club got into financial difficulties and consequently had to struggle repeatedly with line-up problems. After four rounds of the championship had been completed, Viktoria was no longer able to maintain its game operations and joined the traditional Vienna Cricket and Football Club on November 24, 1911 , which in turn joined the Wiener Amateur SV after most of the fighting team had transferred had to struggle with serious personal problems. All previously disputed games of Viktoria have been canceled by the association. Despite the amalgamation of the two clubs, the Cricketers won no wins and only two draws and at the end of the season they took eleventh and last place in the table.
