The Arbeiter Sport-Klub Voitsberg is an Austrian football club from Voitsberg in Styria . The club plays in the Landesliga Styria , the fourth highest level in Austria. The club colors are white and black. The main sponsors of the association are the Voitsberger Stadtwerke and the Austrian Sparkasse .
history
ASK Voitsberg was founded in 1921 with the football and boxing sections . Until the beginning of the Second World War , the club played in various regional Styrian classes. In the years from 1938 to 1945 the association was renamed by the National Socialists from ASK Voitsberg to Grün-Weiß-Krems . After the end of the war, Grün-Weiß-Krems became ASK Voitsberg again and the boxing section was dropped.
Five years after the war, the ASK came to the Styrian regional league for the first time. In 1961, the club rose for the first time in Austria's second-highest division, the Regionalliga, but immediately dropped in the following year. In 1967 the comeback in the Regionalliga followed, which lasted for four seasons until 1971. It was not until 1983 that the return to the second class should be achieved for the last time. Due to a reform of the 2nd division , Voitsberg had to relegate in seventh place in the second year.
After a further descent into the regional league, the white-blacks were crowned Styrian champions again in 1994 and remained in the middle regional league until relegation in 2007. The relegation of 2007 could already be equalized in the following year with the sovereign championship title in the regional league and has thus been represented again in the regional league middle since the 2008/09 season.
ASK Voitsberg currently plays in the Styrian regional league.
