Andreas "Andi" Ogris (born October 7, 1964 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian football player .

Career

In 63 international matches from 1986 to 1997 for the Austrian national soccer team , he scored eleven goals. For years he formed an attacking duo in the national team with Toni Polster . Under Ernst Happel , Ogris wore the captain's armband . He played among others for Favoritner AC , FK Austria Wien , Admira Wacker , Espanyol Barcelona and Linzer ASK . In 1990 he was voted Austrian Player of the Year.

He became famous at Austria Wien, where he played as a winger for years. His duels with Rapid player Didi Kühbauer are legendary .

One of his greatest successes was his participation in the World Cup in 1990, in which he scored a goal against the USA that paved his way to Espanyol Barcelona in the Spanish Primera Division. The transfer was realized for the record sum of 40 million schillings at the time. Since the Spaniards, who would have liked to keep the striker, could no longer find the last installments, Ogris was back at Austria Wien a year later.

After his active time as a player, he worked as a trainer for PSV Team for Vienna , 1. Simmeringer SC and ASK Schwadorf, among others . Today he still plays from time to time in the Copa Pele Team , the Austrian senior national team, together with old stars like Herbert Prohaska , Toni Polster , Hans Krankl and Michael Konsel , and since September 2006 at the Vienna Celtics in the Lower House of Vienna.

In 2006, in addition to his hairdressing business, which he has owned for years, he created a second mainstay by opening a betting office in Vienna's Prater. He also works as an individual trainer for the Austria Academy.

For the time being, he trained the FK Austria Wien amateurs from February 21, 2014 to March 2015. After a 0-1 defeat by the professional team against SV Ried , Gerald Baumgartner was replaced by Ogris on an interim basis. After the end of the season he took over the second team of Austria again, with whom he was promoted to the 2nd division in 2018 . In March 2019 Austria separated from Ogris, the Young Violets were at 13th place in the table at that time.

His brother Ernst (1967-2017) was also a professional footballer.
