Heinz Hochhauser (born February 6, 1947 in Wels ) is an Austrian football coach . Most recently, he was the sporting director at Red Bull Salzburg .

Initial career

Hochhauser began his professional career as a teacher at a technical college. He also pursued a career as a football coach, which he began in 1970 at the age of 23. At the beginning he looked after some lower-class clubs in Upper Austria. Including two clubs from his hometown, the Welser SC and Eintracht Wels. In 1990 he received the offer to work in youth work and he moved to the Federal Youth Center in Linz. In the first four years he was in charge of various youth teams and in 1995 he was promoted to youth director for FC Linz .

In 1995, after 25 years in amateur and youth football, he was appointed by FC Linz as their new head coach, which was the first professional coaching position for Heinz Hochhauser.

After one season, however, he switched back to youth football, he took over the youth work for SV Ried and took over a youth team for the Austrian national football team as team manager.

Professional career

In 1998, SV Ried appointed Heinz Hochhauser as their new trainer, where he was able to draw attention to himself with a good job. After two years in Ried, he received the offer to become a coach at FK Austria Wien . There he was given leave of absence after a few months.

Hochhauser declared that he wanted to distance himself from football and return to his profession as a teacher. In the 2002 season he made a very brief comeback at FC Kärnten , where he resigned after a few weeks. In the following season he headed the training of SV Pasching for a few months , where he stood in for his sick friend Georg Zellhofer .

He then signed a 2-year contract with SV Ried for the new season , where he immediately achieved promotion to the top division and a good midfield position in the next season.

For the 2006 season he finally moved to FC Red Bull Salzburg , where he took over the management of the youth team. After a year in this position, his agendas were expanded and he also took on the role of sporting director for the club. He held this position until 2009, before he was replaced by Dietmar Beiersdorfer . Hochhauser switched back to the club's youth department. After Beiersdorfer's dismissal, Hochhauser became sports director of Red Bull Salzburg again in May 2011, before terminating his contract in December 2011. Since then he has been available to the Salzburgers as an external consultant.
