Dietmar Beiersdorfer (born November 16, 1963 in Fürth ) is a former German soccer player and today's soccer official .

Career as a player

society

In his youth, the Franconian played for the clubs TSC Cadolzburg, TSV Altenberg, ASV Herzogenaurach and 1. FC Bamberg . In 1985 he switched to the then top division club SpVgg Fürth and was discovered there by talent scouts from Hamburger SV. HSV signed the defensive player with a strong header in 1986 together with his teammate Manfred Kastl . Beiersdorfer immediately fought for a regular place in the team of coach Ernst Happel and won the DFB Cup 1987 with HSV on June 20, 1987 . In the 3-1 win in the final against the Stuttgarter Kickers , Beiersdorfer was one of the goalscorers.

By the summer of 1992, Beiersdorfer played 174 times for Hamburg in the Bundesliga and scored 14 goals. For financial reasons, HSV then sold him to rival Werder Bremen , whose jersey he wore 64 times in the Bundesliga until 1996. In 1992/93 the defensive player with the Bremen German champions and 1994 cup winners. Due to an injury he did not play a game for Werder in the 1994/95 season and found it difficult to make friends after his recovery. In the winter break of 1995/96 he moved to 1. FC Köln , for which he played 16 games by the end of the season.

From July 1996 Beiersdorfer was under contract with the then Italian first division club AC Reggiana , where he ended his active career after a season in the summer of 1997 due to an eye injury.

He then successfully completed his business studies at the HWP and then worked at KPMG as an auditor assistant.

National team

On May 1, 1991, Beiersdorfer made his only international match for the German national team in the qualifier for the 1992 European Championship at the Lower Saxony Stadium in Hanover against Belgium (1-0) .

Career as a functionary

In August 2002 he returned to Hamburger SV, where he had been the sports director since September 1, 2002. Here he signed players like Rafael van der Vaart , Nigel de Jong , Marcell Jansen and Ivica Olić . The club was later able to transfer some of these players with high profits. On June 23, 2009, Beiersdorfer reached an agreement with the Hamburger SV supervisory board to prematurely terminate his contract, which ran until December 2010, after there had been disagreements with CEO Bernd Hoffmann in advance .

From November 1, 2009 to April 8, 2011, Beiersdorfer worked as "Head of Global Soccer" for Red Bull GmbH . There he was responsible for FC Red Bull Salzburg , RB Leipzig , Red Bull Brasil and the New York Red Bulls , among others . He also served as CEO of RB Leipzig from February 2010 to May 2011. According to Red Bull, the separation between the club and Beiersdorfer was amicable.

In August 2012, Beiersdorfer became sports director of Zenit Saint Petersburg .

After the licensed player department of Hamburger SV was spun off into HSV Fußball AG in July 2014, Beiersdorfer became its chairman. After separating from the director of professional football Peter Knäbel , he also took over his duties on May 9, 2016. On December 14, 2016, the Supervisory Board appointed Heribert Bruchhagen as the new CEO. Beiersdorfer was completely removed from the board on December 22, 2016. His contract was terminated on December 31, 2016. Until then he stayed with the club as director of professional football.

Beiersdorfer has been married to Olcay Beiersdorfer since July 2006.
