The Austrian Football Association's Cup was played for the 84th time in the 2018/19 season. The 2018/19 season was also the centenary of the ÖFB Cup. The official name of the competition is "Uniqa ÖFB Cup" after the competition sponsor Uniqa , who has been supporting the competition since 2017. The slogan of the competition is “#GlaubeWilleMut” (“Goals for Europe” until 2017). The winner qualifies directly for the group stage of the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League . If the cup winner is already qualified for the UEFA Europa League or the UEFA Champions League, the fifth place in the 2018/19 championship will take part in the qualification for the UEFA Europa League.
The defending champion was SK Sturm Graz , who last defeated FC Red Bull Salzburg 1-0 and were eliminated this year in the second round after a 2-0 defeat against FK Austria Wien . Last year's top scorer was Dario Tadić ( TSV Hartberg ) with five goals.
The FC Red Bull Salzburg won his sixth Cupgewinn, João Victor ( LASK ) was charged with six hits scorer.
Attendees
64 teams take part in the first round. The 12 teams of the Bundesliga (FC Admira Wacker Mödling, SCR Altach, SK Sturm Graz, TSV Hartberg, FC Wacker Innsbruck, LASK Linz, SV Koch Mattersburg, FC Red Bull Salzburg, SKN St. Pölten, FK Austria Vienna, SK Rapid Wien, Wolfsberger AC) and 12 teams of the second division (Floridsdorfer AC, FC Blau-Weiß Linz, Kapfenberger SV, SC Austria Lustenau, SC Wiener Neustadt, SK Austria Klagenfurt, SK Vorwärts Steyr, SKU Amstetten, SV Ried, SV Horn, SC Lafnitz, WSG Wattens). This also applies to FC Liefering, which is under the control of FC Red Bull Salzburg.
The remaining places were allocated to amateur clubs in the national associations according to a fixed key:
