Stefan Hierländer (born February 3, 1991 in Villach ) is an Austrian football player . Hierländer, who acts as a midfielder , has been playing for SK Sturm Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga since 2016 . Hierländer has been the captain there since the 2018/19 season.
Career
society
Hierländer began his career at SV Greifenburg in Carinthia . In 2002 he moved to the youth department of SV Spittal / Drau . After another three years he came to FC Kärnten , where he was active in the youth team until 2007.
After the founding of the SK Austria Kärnten he was used in the youth team and in the amateur team. In the summer of 2008 he signed with Sampdoria Genua , but returned to Carinthia after a few weeks, where he worked his way up to the professional squad under Frenk Schinkels . The midfielder made his Bundesliga debut on March 18, 2009 (in the supplementary game for the 20th round) in the Klagenfurt Hypo-Group-Arena against SK Sturm Graz , when he played for Manuel Weber in the 57th minute at the score of 3 : 1 was substituted on. The game ended 4: 2 for the Carinthians.
After Austria Kärnten did not receive a license for the 2010/2011 season, Hierländer moved to Red Bull Salzburg on a free transfer . In the first round of the 2013/14 season, on July 20, he played his 100th Bundesliga game (5-1 away win at SC Wiener Neustadt ), 62 of them for Salzburg. In summer 2014 he moved to RB Leipzig .
For the 2016/17 season he moved back to Austria for Bundesliga club SK Sturm Graz , where he received a contract that was valid until June 2018.
National team
Hierländer played for various Austrian youth national teams.
In August 2017 he was appointed to the senior national team for the first time to replace the injured Guido Burgstaller . He made his national team debut on March 27, 2018 when he came on for Marko Arnautović in a 68th minute test match against Luxembourg .
