Jörg Siebenhandl (born January 18, 1990 in Vienna ) is an Austrian football goalkeeper .

Career

society

Siebenhandl played as a junior goalkeeper for FK Austria Wien and Admira Wacker Mödling . He then moved to Wiener Neustadt and first played at 1. Wiener Neustädter SC , before the team was taken over by SC Magna Wiener Neustadt and the club was then dissolved. Siebenhandl was taken over into the squad of SC Magna Wiener Neustadt. After his loan period at SC Columbia Floridsdorf , he made his debut against SV Mattersburg on May 25, 2011 in the last round of the 2010/11 Bundesliga season . The game ended 1-1.

In the 2011/12 season Siebenhandl became the goalkeeper and was promptly rewarded with being called up to the Austrian national football team , but was not used in the European Championship qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan . In the same season, Siebenhandl was also voted Austria's goalkeeper of the year. After he continued to be a regular goalkeeper in the 2012/13 season , he was only used irregularly in the following 2013/14 season . The reason for this was different views between Siebenhandl and his trainer Heimo Pfeifenberger , in which sporting direction the club should develop. His contract with the "blue-whites" was then no longer extended, and from June 2014 Siebenhandl was without a club.

On November 11th, 2014 it was announced that Admira Wacker Mödling had signed Siebenhandl with immediate effect until June 2017.

In July 2016 he moved to Germany for the second division club Würzburger Kickers , where he received a contract valid until June 2019.

After the Kickers relegated to the third division, Siebenhandl moved back to Austria for the 2017/18 season for Bundesliga club SK Sturm Graz , with whom he received a contract valid until June 2020. In May 2020 he extended his contract with the Styrians until June 2023.

National team

In the U-21 national team , the Viennese made his debut on November 10, 2011 in a 2-0 draw against Bulgaria . Siebenhandl was used in five other games for the U-21 team.

After making two appearances in the squad in October 2011 and November 2017, Siebenhandl made his debut in the senior national team in March 2018 when he was in the starting line-up in a friendly against Luxembourg .

Trivia

On the first matchday of the 2011/12 season he scored the first goal of the Bundesliga season after a long tee shot after 81 seconds and thus laid the foundation for SC Wiener Neustadt's 2-1 victory at SV Mattersburg .

His brother Udo Siebenhandl , who is three years older than him, almost took the same path, but has since given up his professional career and is a sports teacher and goalkeeper for the regional division SC Neusiedl am See .
