Career

society

Spendlhofer began his career at SVSF Pottschach in Lower Austria and moved to 1. Wiener Neustädter SC in 2005 . From 2007 he played at the St. Pölten football academy and in January 2011 he went to the Italian club Inter Milan , where he was initially used in the Primavera team. With this he won the Torneo di Viareggio as a substitute in 2011 and the NextGen Series and the Italian junior championship in 2012 as a regular player .

After Inter and Spendlhofer did not agree on a new contract in the summer of 2012, the defender was initially excluded from the game. Nevertheless, Inter Spendlhofer, who took part in a trial training session at Eintracht Braunschweig in December 2012 , did not let go while the player himself was not interested in a loan deal. It wasn't until March 2013 that he played again for Inters Primavera. Nevertheless, he made his debut in Inter's first team on May 12, 2013: He was substituted on for Andrea Ranocchia after 77 minutes in a league game against CFC Genoa . About a month later, he extended his contract to June 2016.

For the 2013/14 season Spendlhofer was loaned to the Serie B team AS Varese 1910 . For the 2014/15 season, he was awarded to SK Sturm Graz and firmly committed in May 2015. The term of his first contract was three years with an option for another year. Shortly before the end of the contract period, the Styrians withdrew the option and tied the native of Lower Austria for another year until summer 2019. After Spendlhofer's possible move to Major League Soccer to Toronto FC was reported for the first time in November 2018 , the central defender subsequently courted also some German second division teams like FC St. Pauli , Dynamo Dresden or SC Paderborn . At the end of April 2019, his expiring contract with the Grazers was extended to summer 2022.
