The season began with the first group matches on August 17, 2011 and ended with the final on March 25, 2012 at Matchroom Stadium in London .
The game was based on the model of European club competitions in a combination of group stage with home and away legs and a knockout system from the quarterfinals. It was played in four groups of four teams each. The two best teams in each group qualified for the quarter-finals. In this, however, only one game was played, with the group winners enjoying home rights. The round of the last four took place in England within twelve days.
