Samuel Tetteh Kotoko (born July 28, 1996 ) is a Ghanaian soccer player .

Career

Tetteh began his career at the West African Football Academy . In 2015 he played in the Premier League for the first time .

For the 2016/17 season he moved to Austria for the second division club FC Liefering . He made his debut for Liefering in July 2016 when he was in the starting line-up against SV Horn on matchday one of that season and was replaced by Oliver Filip in the 71st minute . On the following day he scored his first goal in the second highest division in a 4-1 win against SC Wiener Neustadt .

In January 2017, Tetteh also received a contract with FC Red Bull Salzburg that ran until June 2020. Shortly after signing his contract with the first team, however, he injured his knee more seriously, so that he could not play a game after the winter break. At the end of the season he had 20 appearances for Liefering in the second division, in which he scored ten goals. After a protracted meniscus injury, he made his comeback at Liefering in October 2017. He made his debut for the first team on October 25, 2017 in the cup game against TuS Bad Gleichenberg . He came on in the 77th minute for Takumi Minamino . He made his UEFA Europa League debut against Vitória Guimarães in November 2017 .

Without playing in the league for Salzburg, he was awarded to league competitor LASK in January 2018 for a year and a half . He made his debut in the Bundesliga in February 2018 when he was in the starting line-up against SKN St. Pölten on matchday 21 of the 2017/18 season and was replaced by Mërgim Berisha in the 71st minute . In the game that Upper Austrians won 2-1, Tetteh also scored his first Bundesliga goal with the 1-0 goal. By the end of the season he made 16 appearances in the Bundesliga, in which he scored five goals. At the end of the season he finished fourth with the LASK and thus took part in qualifying for the Europa League. In the second round second leg against Lillestrøm SK Tetteh contributed a goal to LASK's 2-1 win. With the club he was eliminated in the third round against Beşiktaş Istanbul . In the league, he made 21 appearances in the 2018/19 season, in which he scored four goals. In June 2019 the loan was extended for another year. As the runner-up in the previous season, he was allowed to take part in qualifying for the UEFA Champions League with the Upper Austrians . This was not achieved after a playoff defeat against Club Bruges , but at least one slipped into the group stage of the Europa League. In this one reached the second round, Tetteh came to six appearances in the Europa League. In the league, the Ghanaian played 29 games in the 2019/20 season, in which he scored seven times.

After more than 80 competitive games for LASK, he returned to Salzburg after the 2019/20 season after being on loan for two and a half years. In August 2020, it was awarded to the New York Red Bulls in the USA for six months .

National team

Tetteh played for the first time in 2015 for the Ghanaian U-20 team , with which he took part in the 2015 U-20 World Cup in New Zealand . In September of the same year, he made his debut for the senior national team in a friendly against the Republic of the Congo . In the qualifier for the Africa Cup on September 3, 2016 against Rwanda , he scored his first goal for the Black Stars.

He was called up to the squad for the Africa Cup of 2017. He played his first match in this tournament against Egypt. In the end he finished fourth with the team.
