Stefan Lainer (born August 27, 1992 in Seekirchen am Wallersee ) is an Austrian football player .
Career
society
Stefan Lainer began playing football in 1998 in the offspring of his home club, SV Seekirchen 1945 , in Flachgau in Salzburg , where he played until 2006. He was then transferred to the cooperation club FC Red Bull Salzburg , where he played in the youth team for four years. In spring 2010 he made his debut for the second team of Salzburg in the second division ; In the home game on April 16, 2010 against SC Austria Lustenau , he was allowed to play for the full 90 minutes. In the 2010/11 season he became an integral part of the Juniors and won the championship in the Regionalliga West with them . In order to gain match practice he was awarded to the second division club SV Grödig for the 2011/12 season and in summer 2012 he switched entirely to FC Liefering , the “Bulls” farm team . With the team he succeeded in advancing from the regional league to professional football.
For the 2014/15 season he moved to SV Ried in the Bundesliga. In summer 2015 he returned to his youth club FC Red Bull Salzburg and has been part of the regular squad ever since. After four seasons and four championship titles at Salzburg, he moved to the 2019/20 season, together with his coach at Salzburg, Marco Rose , to Germany for Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach , where he received a contract that ran until June 2024.
National team
Stefan Lainer was a youth national player for Austria from 2006 to 2010 and played for the U-16 , U-17 , U-18 and U-19 .
He was appointed to the senior national team for the first time in March 2017 . He also made his national team debut that month when he came on as a substitute in a friendly against Finland at half-time.

His father is the former Austrian national player Leopold Lainer .
