Andreas Poulsen (born October 13, 1999 in Ikast ) is a Danish football player . He played since his youth for FC Midtjylland in the Superliga and is also a Danish youth national player. The defender is under contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach .
Career
society
Poulsen grew up in his native Ikast and joined Ikast KFUM in his childhood . Later he moved to the youth training center of FC Midtjylland . On December 1, 2016, at the age of 17, he made his professional debut in the 2016/17 season in a 2-1 away game against Silkeborg IF . He had previously made four appearances in the UEFA Youth League . For the professional team of FC Midtjylland he came to only one use in the 2016/17 season; FC Midtjylland finished fifth in the table at the end of the regular season and qualified for participation in the championship round, in which Poulsen remained without a commitment and his team reached fourth place. In 2017, Poulsen extended his contract term by three years. In the 2017/18 season, Poulsen became Danish champions with FC Midtjylland.
For the 2018/19 season , Poulsen signed a five-year contract with the German Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach . He was only used 18 times for the regional league team and tore ligaments in November 2019. In January 2020, the Dane was in the winter break until the end of season 2019/20 by Austria to the FK Austria Wien , awarded to gain match practice in a professional league. By the end of the loan, he made five appearances for the Viennese in the Bundesliga and also played one game in the Europa League playoff.
National team
On October 21, 2014 Poulsen completed his first of two games for the Danish U16 selection when he was used in the 0-2 defeat in Ringkøbing in a friendly against the Czech Republic. On August 4, 2015, Poulsen played for the Danish U17 national team for the first time in a 3-1 win against Sweden on the occasion of the Open Nordic Cup in Sweden . He played 14 times from 2015 to 2016, scoring two goals. With the U17 he qualified for the 2016 European Championship in Azerbaijan , where he made three appearances. His last game for this age group was on May 12, 2016 during the European Championship finals in a 3-1 defeat in Baku against England. Poulsen played his first of two games for the Danish U18 national team on September 1, 2016 in a goalless draw in a friendly against the Netherlands in Gendt . On January 19, 2017, Poulsen played for the Danish U19 national team for the first time in the 6-0 friendly win in Agia Napa against Cyprus . He played 10 times for the Danes' A youth selection - including 5 times in qualifying for the 2018 U19 European Championship - and scored 5 goals. On September 7, 2018, Poulsen made his debut for the Danish U21 team when he played in the 2-0 win in the European Championship qualifier against Finland in Aalborg.
