Richard Strebinger (born February 14, 1993 in Wiener Neustadt ) is an Austrian football goalkeeper . He has been under contract with SK Rapid Vienna since 2015 .

Beginnings in Austria

Richard Strebinger started his football career in the youth of SC Piesting . After the station FV Club 83 Wiener Neustadt , Strebinger landed in the AKA St. Pölten . There he played in the youth team of the Austrian football club. With St. Pölten, the goalkeeper won the championship of the U-15 youth league in Austria.

Hertha BSC

In the summer of 2008, Strebinger moved from Austria to Hertha BSC's B youth team . He was able to assert himself early on with the Berliners, with whom he played in the German B-Youth League . For the 2010/11 season Strebinger rose from the B youth team to their own U-23 . While at the beginning he mostly played in the A youth team , he played permanently in the U-23 from the middle of the first half of the season. On December 12, 2010, Strebinger sat for the first time on the bench of the Hertha BSC professional team due to injuries to goalkeepers Maikel Aerts and Marco Sejna . Later, after the recovery of the two goalkeepers, Strebinger played again for the U-23. In the coming season Strebinger remained in the goal of the Berlin reserve team, but was never in the professional squad. In mid-April Richard Strebinger was brought up for discussion at Werder Bremen .

Werder Bremen

On May 23, 2012, the transfer to Bremen was reported as perfect. Richard Strebinger signed a contract with the North Germans until June 30, 2014. Initially playing in the U-23 , Strebinger should slowly be brought up to the level of the Bundesliga . Strebinger started his first season at Werder Bremen as number 3 behind regular goalkeeper Sebastian Mielitz and substitute keeper Raphael Wolf . In the U-23 he played as a regular goalkeeper in the Regionalliga Nord . In April 2014, Werder Bremen extended Strebinger until summer 2017. In the first half of the 2014/15 season he was second goalkeeper behind Raphael Wolf. On December 7, 2014 he made his debut under coach Viktor Skripnik in the Bundesliga when he was substituted on for the injured goalkeeper Wolf in a 2: 5 away defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt in the 59th minute when the score was 1: 2.

SSV Jahn Regensburg

On January 27, 2015, Strebinger moved to the third division on loan to SSV Jahn Regensburg until the end of the season .

SK Rapid Vienna

On June 26, 2015 SK Rapid Wien announced the commitment of Strebinger after Regensburg was relegated from the 3rd division. Strebinger received a three-year contract. His contract was extended early in December 2017 for another four years until summer 2022.

National team

Strebinger made his debut in Austria's U-17 national team on March 19, 2010 in a friendly against the Finnish U-17 national team when he was in goal for 90 minutes in a 3-3 draw. On September 1, 2010 Strebinger played for the first time for Austria's U-18 team . The opponent at the time was the Slovenian U-18 national team with a final score of 4: 2 for the Austrians. Not a year later, the goalkeeper celebrated his debut in the Austrian U-19 national team on May 18, 2011 against the German U-18 national team in a 1-0 defeat in a friendly match. On September 7, 2012 Strebinger was appointed to the Austrian U-21 national team for the first time , but was not used in the 1: 4 defeat against the Dutch U-21 national team. He made his debut on October 15, 2012 in a 3-1 win over the Hungarian U-21 national team.

He was appointed to the senior national team for the first time in May 2018 . He made his debut for them in October 2018 when he was in the starting line-up in a friendly against Denmark .
