Frank Islacker (born August 29, 1963 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Islacker played for VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga . In the 1982/83 season he played three point games, all of which were lost. He made his debut under coach Rolf Schafstall on August 24, 1982 (2nd matchday) in the 0-1 defeat in the home game against Karlsruher SC , before he was substituted for Stefan Pater in the 53rd minute . He played his last game on September 17, 1982 (6th matchday) in the 0-2 defeat in the home game against Eintracht Braunschweig with a substitution for Heinz Knüwe in the 57th minute. In this he collided with goalkeeper Bernd Franke , got stuck in the grass with the cleats of his football boots when he got up and suffered a torn cruciate and lateral ligament as well as a meniscus damage in his right knee. The total write meant the end of his young career.

Others

Islacker's father Franz won the DFB Cup 1952/53 and the German championship in 1955 with Rot-Weiss Essen . His daughter Mandy plays in the women's Bundesliga for Bayern Munich and is a national player. After his career as a footballer, he worked as a truck driver for the Essen waste disposal company.
