Christoph Knasmüllner (born April 30, 1992 in Vienna ) is an Austrian football player .

Career

societies

From the age of seven to ten, Knasmüllner played in the youth division of the fourth-class FC Stadlau , which played in the Vienna City League . Up to the age of sixteen he played in the youth department of FK Austria Wien . During this time, from 2006 to 2008 he attended the football academy founded by Frank Stronach in Hollabrunn in 2000 and named after him for the training of young footballers. In 2008 he moved to Germany in the youth department of FC Bayern Munich and was active there until 2009.

For the 2009/10 season he was included in the squad of the second team and made his debut - due to several suspended players - on November 21, 2009, the 17th matchday, in a 1-1 draw at home against Eintracht Braunschweig in the 3rd division . With the opening goal on February 27, 2010, the 26th matchday, in a 2-0 home win over the second team of VfB Stuttgart , he also scored his first goal in senior football.

Knasmüllner was a regular in the second team in the 2010/11 season . Since he saw no chance of playing in the Bundesliga team - he was part of the professional squad on October 16, 2010 (8th matchday) in the 3-0 home game against Hannover 96 , but remained without a commitment - he announced that not to renew his contract, which expires in summer 2011. During the winter break, he moved from Bayern Munich to the Italian club Inter Milan , where he was used in their Primavera team .

After half a year and eight appearances in the Milanese youth team, Knasmüllner returned to Germany. At the beginning of the 2011/12 season he moved to FC Ingolstadt 04 in the 2nd Bundesliga and made his debut for this on September 11, 2011 (7th matchday) in the 1: 4 defeat in the away game against 1. FC Union Berlin with a substitution in the 73rd minute for José-Alex Ikeng . On September 16, 2011 (8th matchday) he also scored his first goal in a 4-2 win at home against Dynamo Dresden by scoring the final score in stoppage time. In the following seasons, however, Knasmüllner could not prevail and mostly shuttled between the reserve team and the substitute bench of the first team.

In the summer of 2014 Knasmüllner moved to Bundesliga club FC Admira Wacker Mödling on a free transfer . For this he came on July 19, 2014 (1st matchday) in the 1: 4 defeat in the home game against Wolfsberger AC for the first time.

In January 2018 he moved to the English second division club FC Barnsley , with whom he received a contract dated June 30, 2020. He made his debut on February 24, 2018 (34th matchday) in a 2-0 win in the away game against Birmingham City .

After relegation, he returned to Austria for the 2018/19 season, where he joined SK Rapid Wien , where he received a contract that ran until June 2021.

National team

He had his first appearance in the U-16 national team on November 13, 2007 in a friendly against Turkey in Istanbul. He played from the start and was - together with three other players - substituted at half-time. The game was lost 4-0.

In Austria's U-17 national team , he played 17 times, scoring eight goals. For the U-18 national team, he played for the first time on September 16, 2009 against Switzerland, and he was also used on October 21 against Bulgaria.

He made his debut in the U-19 national team on May 25, 2010 in a game against Switzerland. He scored his first goal in a 2-0 win over Serbia two days later. With his two goals on May 30, 2010 in a 4-3 win over Denmark, he qualified for the 2010 U-19 European Championship in France , for which he was appointed to the 18-man squad by coach Andreas Heraf on July 5, 2010 . He was used in the group matches against England and France. However, he did not play the third game because he had to play for Bayern in the third division.

In October 2017, he was appointed to the senior national team for the first time .
