Thomas Murg (born November 14, 1994 in Voitsberg ) is an Austrian football player . The midfielder plays for the Austrian Bundesliga club SK Rapid Wien .
Career
society
Murg began his football career with Atus Bärnbach in Styria . In 2008 he moved to the Grazer AK , where he was brought into the squad of the first team after brief stops at his parent club from Bärnbach as well as at local rivals SK Sturm Graz 2010.
Murg made his debut for the first team of the Rotjacken on August 6, 2010 against DSV Leoben , when he played from the start and was substituted for Jakob Färber in the 76th minute . In his first appearance in the dress of Graz , he achieved the interim 2: 1 in a 3: 1 success in the UPC Arena . In total, the left midfielder made 26 appearances and two goals in his first full season. In his second season 2011/12 he was the top performer of the Graz championship team of the Regionalliga Mitte, where he scored eleven goals in 24 appearances. After an unsuccessful promotion playoff against TSV Hartberg , Murg turned his back on the Grazer AK and moved to the Austrian Bundesliga club FK Austria Wien at the beginning of the 2012/13 season .
The Styrian made his debut in the top Austrian division under coach Peter Stöger on July 28, 2012 against his former youth club SK Sturm Graz. Murg came on for Roland Linz in the 62nd minute and received a yellow card in the 90th minute. The game in the Generali Arena was lost 0: 1. At the end of the season, after seven appearances, he was Austrian champion.
In 2014 he moved to league competitor SV Ried . In January 2016 he moved to SK Rapid Vienna , where he signed a contract that was valid until June 2019. At the end of September 2018 it was announced that the contract had been extended until summer 2022 without an exit clause.
National team
Internationally, he initially played games for the Austrian U-17 and U-19 national teams .
In March 2014 he made his debut for Austria's U-21 team . By October 2016 he had five more assignments.
He was appointed to the senior national team for the first time in May 2018 .
