Campionato Primavera
The Campionato Primavera (also Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti ) is the highest Italian league for young football teams and is organized by the Lega Calcio. The championship was held for the first time in the game year 1962/63. In the first seven years a Serie A and a Serie B champion were determined, and there has been an overall winner since the 1969/70 season. The current mode of competition has existed since the 1995/96 game year.
Only clubs from the professional leagues Series A, B and C are allowed to participate in the professionally oriented junior league. Players between the ages of 15 and 20 are eligible to play, although this rule can be suspended for up to two players. Due to the large number of teams, the clubs are divided into four divisions, with the first four teams qualifying for a promotion round. In a knockout match with a return leg, the number of teams remaining in the tournament is halved. These eight teams play a final tournament lasting several days to determine the junior champions.
