Viktor Skrypnyk ( Ukrainian Віктор Анатолійович Скрипник / Viktor Skrypnyk Anatolijowytsch , transliteration Viktor Skrypnyk Anatolijovyč * 19th November 1969 in Novomoskovsk , Dnipropetrovsk Oblast ) is a Ukrainian football coach and former football player .

Career

As a player

Skripnik began his career at Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and played for various clubs in the Ukrainian Premjer-Liha until 1996 . In the summer of 1996 Werder Bremen signed him to the Bundesliga . His nickname " Beckham of Ukraine" quickly established itself there , and was proclaimed by the stadium announcer when the team line-up was announced before the start of each game . Three years later he won the DFB Cup with the club . Although Skripnik lost his regular place in his later years in Bremen, he remained one of the public favorites - not least because of his loyalty to the club and his down-to-earth attitude.

This was evident on May 1, 2004 in the penultimate home game of his last season, the 2003/04 championship season . In the 6-0 win against Hamburger SV , Skripnik came on for Pekka Lagerblom in the 72nd minute . When Werder was awarded a penalty in the 84th minute , the fans chanted Skripnik as shooter. The rest of the team encouraged him to take the penalty and his last goal scored the final score. He then ended his career with a double victory in the championship and the DFB Cup, in which he ran 164 times for the Hanseatic League and scored seven goals.

As a trainer

Skripnik began a coaching career at Werder Bremen after retiring from active sport. From 2004 to 2005 he was assistant coach for the U-15 team and coach of the third team in the 2005/06 season. He took over the U-16 team in the Association League for the 2006/07 season and then coached the U-18s. For the 2013/14 season he was the head coach of Werders U-23 in the Regionalliga Nord . As the successor to Robin Dutt , he took over as head coach of the SV Werder Bundesliga team, which was bottom of the table and which he led to 10th place until the end of the season. In the 2015/16 season he reached relegation on the last day of the game; in the DFB Cup competition he made it to the semifinals with Werder. In the summer of 2016, Skripnik received a contract extension for one year until 2018.

On September 18, 2016, he was given leave of absence after leaving the DFB-Pokal 2016/17 against third division club SF Lotte and a Bundesliga season start with three defeats in a row.

In July 2018 Skripnik took over the coaching position at the Latvian first division club Riga FC , with which he received a long-term contract. In October 2018 Skripnik won his first coaching title with a 5-4 win on penalties in the Latvian Cup final. Almost two weeks later he also won the championship with the club and celebrated the double. He was voted coach of the year for this. At the beginning of February 2019, the club separated from Skripnik.

For the 2019/20 season Skripnik is training the Ukrainian first division club Zorya Luhansk .
