The Riga FC is a 2014 founded Latvian football club from the city of Riga .

history

The club name was registered in 2014. In 2015, through the merger of FC Caramba Riga and Dinamo Riga, they played in the third division for one season under the name FC Caramba / Dinamo and officially renamed Riga FC after being promoted to the second division . In 2016, the promotion to the top division, the Virslīga , could be celebrated.

With 3rd place in the 2017 season, the club was able to qualify for the Europa League for the first time . In the 1st qualifying round 2018/19 they faced the Bulgarian record champions CSKA Sofia and were eliminated on penalties.

The most famous player is the captain and 44-time Latvian national player Oļegs Laizāns , who has played for the club since 2016.

In the 2018 season, the club, led by Viktor Skripnik, won its first title with the Latvian Cup with a 5-4 win on penalties against FK Ventspils and the championship title against the same opponent two game days before the end of the season. On February 5, 2019, the club announced the separation from coach Viktor Skripnik.
