Antons Kurakins (born January 1, 1990 ) is a Latvian football player who plays for Hamilton Academical in Scotland.

Career

society

Antons Kurakins began his career in Riga , with the second division team FK Multibanka . From 2007 he played in Rēzekne with RSK Dižvanagi , who later renamed himself to the SK Blāzma Rēzekne . In the 2008 season Kurakins was used for the first time in the Virslīga and completed 30 league games by the end of the season. In the summer of 2008 Kurakins moved to Scotland to Celtic Glasgow . There, however, the Latvian was not used, so that it was awarded twice. In the 2009/10 season , the 19-year-old played on loan at third division club Brechin City . In the following 2010/11 season he was loaned to the fourth division club FC Stranraer . In the summer of 2011 Kurakins returned to Latvia after three years abroad and signed a contract with FK Ventspils . With the club from the Latvian port city, he won the championship three times and the cup once. He was able to convince as a regular player in the championship years. In July 2015, the left-back moved to the Scottish first division club Hamilton Academical .

National team

Antons Kurakins made his debut under Marians Pahars in the Latvian national team against Macedonia in March 2014 . In June of the same year he took part in the Baltic Cup with his national team, and was used twice. In the victorious final against Lithuania Kurakins came on for Vitālijs Maksimenko . In qualifying for the 2016 European Championship , he played against Turkey and the Netherlands .
