Stadium announcer
The stadium announcer is the person who is responsible for the content of the loudspeaker announcements during sporting events. He moderates the program before, during and after the game, as well as during the breaks. So z. For example, the most important events on the pitch are announced (e.g. goals, substitutions, yellow and red cards in football ). In football, stadium speakers are prohibited from commenting on the game by FIFA regulations . But it is also used for general information, e.g. B. on a wrongly parked car or the search for people. The announcements of the stadium announcer are often supported by display boards or large-format screens .

The stadium announcer prepares the audience for the game. Distinctive elements of the interaction between the stadium announcer and the audience are, for example, reading out the team line-up, during which the audience calls out the last name of the home team. It contributes significantly to building up the atmosphere in the stadium. Sometimes the stadium announcer also tries to prevent excesses with de-escalating announcements. For this purpose he is z. B. when burning pyrotechnic objects requested by the referee via the captain of the home team.

In tennis , the referee takes on the role of speaker.
In American football , in addition to the conventional stadium announcer, the main referee also has radio access to the loudspeaker system in order to announce events during the game, in particular fouls and penalties, and, in complex situations, to explain them to the audience.
