Andreas "Andy" Marek (born July 25, 1962 in Groß-Siegharts ) is an Austrian stadium announcer , singer and presenter.

Life

Marek released several singles and an LP in the early 1980s; his style can be paraphrased with hit pop. In 1984 he took part in the Austrian qualifying round for the Eurovision de la Chanson Grand Prix , but only finished sixth with his song Top Secret (by Kurt Brunthaler ).

From 1992 to 2020 Marek was the stadium spokesman for the SK Rapid Vienna football club and hosted 599 SK Rapid competition games in a row over the 27½ years. He also held other functions in this club, in particular the management of the "Klubservice" he founded in 1998, which includes ticketing, membership management, merchandising and fan shops, the organization of all Rapid events, the support of the fan clubs, the Organization of the VIP area, which includes match day organization. From 1994 he was also the stadium announcer for the Austrian national team in Vienna (official title: "Teamspeaker").

In addition, Marek works as a moderator for show events and moderates the program Rapid Quarter-Hour on the television station W24 .

At the European Football Championship in 2016 , Marek was named “Team Speaker of the National Team” for Austria. He already held this position at the 2008 European Championships .

At the general meeting of SK Rapid Wien on November 25, 2019, Andy Marek announced that he would be resigning from all activities at SK Rapid in February 2020 for health reasons.

He played his last game as stadium host on February 16, 2020 at the home game against WSG Tirol.

Private

Andy Marek has been married to Sabine Marek since 1996. They have two children together.
