Dagobert Cahannes

Dagobert Cahannes (born November 11, 1950 ) is a Swiss sports reporter and a stadium announcer . For many years, Cahannes, who lives in Grenchen, has been the voice of numerous national and international sporting events such as the FIS - Lauberhorn Race , the Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival , the CSI Zurich and several Alpine World Ski Championships . His son Kevin Cahannes works as a news editor and deputy news chief at Swiss radio.

Activity as a speaker

Cahannes began his work as a speaker in the early 1970s. He completed a speaker course with Karl Erb (then a sports reporter for Swiss television). Shortly afterwards he had his first assignment in Grenchen in an international gymnastics competition between Switzerland and Belgium. It was followed by many other sporting events, with Cahannes increasingly with time on equestrian sports , ski racing , football and swing concentrated.

He was stadium announcer at FC Grenchen and at the watch cup . Later he was the stadium spokesman for the Swiss Football Association at all international football matches held in Switzerland . He was a trainer for the stadium announcers at the 2008 European Football Championship games in Switzerland. He gave up commenting on football games in 2009.

Cahannes has also been a speaker for the Engadin Skimarathon for several years. He was chief speaker at the Alpine World Ski Championships in 2003 in St. Moritz and one of the speakers in the finish area at the 2011 World Ski Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen .

Dagobert Cahannes began to reduce the number of his freelance engagements around 2009. Today he is still speaker of the equestrian event CSI-W Zurich (since 1987), the International Lauberhorn Races in Wengen and the Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival (since 1992).

Activity in radio and television

In 1979 Dagobert Cahannes started working as a freelancer in the sports department at Swiss Radio DRS and Swiss Television . In the summer of 2000 he worked for Swiss television as a reporter and live TV commentator at the Olympic Games in Sydney, reporting on dressage , judo and wrestling . At the end of 2015, he left his position at SRG and retired.

In the 1980s , Dagobert Cahannes had his own talk show called Grenchner Rendez-Vous on the Biel local radio station Canal 3 , which was broadcast live every Sunday morning . In 2011 he was the 17th winner of the Grenchner Culture Prize "Chappeltüfel 2011". This is the award for "originals" from Grenchen.

Cahannes has always worked as a reporter and speaker on the side . His main occupation is a communications consultant . Among other things, he was head of communications for the timing company Swiss Timing and the sporting goods manufacturer Puma , IBM and spokesman for the Swiss pharmaceutical companies Sandoz and Novartis .
