He grew up in Eving and is known in the Ruhr area for his typical dialect. He began his career as a writer and puppeteer for the children's program. He then worked as a TV reporter for Premiere and ran for the football show and hosted the American Gladiators series .

Günna gives his comments on important events in politics, society and sport at the local level in the local press, the local radio and also at games of the Borussia Dortmund football club , where Knust was the stadium announcer between 1991 and 1992 . Since 1991 he has had a regular column in the Saturday edition of the Ruhr Nachrichten and the Westfälische Rundschau .

He has been performing all year round in his Olpketal theater in the south of Dortmund, also since 1991. In the meantime he plays five different programs but is also an external entertainer. In addition to the distinctive voice, his quick-wittedness and a pronounced talent for improvisation are unmistakable.

Knust is also the lyricist of the song "Leucht auf mein Stern Borussia", which is based on the music of Amazing Grace ; it is considered the anthem by the fans of Borussia Dortmund . He wrote and staged a popular anniversary revue for the Dortmund Schauspielhaus for the 100th birthday of Borussia Dortmund under the title “Shine on my star, Borussia”.

For the “Brothers Grimm Year” 2013, Bruno Knust and his team recorded the 20 most beautiful fairy tales by the Grimm Brothers as an audio book with a cabaret coloring. All fairy tales have been relocated to the Ruhr area and sound as natural as if they actually all took place “in the fairy tale pot”.

Bruno Knust lives in Dortmund-Kirchhörde and has two sons and a daughter.
