Eving is a district in the same district in the north of the city of Dortmund .
history
In Eving 1870 began with the depth of the first wells in the coal mines Zeche Minister Stein and mine Prince Hardenberg the transformation to an industrial society. The mines were the main line of business in the city district until they were closed in 1987. The workforce in the mines was up to five thousand at peak times.
The former premises of the Minister Stein colliery now form the basis of the Neue Mitte Eving, the landmark of which is the refurbished hammer head tower of the mine.
On June 10, 1914, Eving was incorporated into Dortmund.
Due to the influx of miners and displaced persons after the Second World War , up to 41,000 people lived in Eving. Today the number of inhabitants is 22,292.
