Nice is the statistical district 93 and at the same time a district in the northwest of the city of Dortmund . It belongs to the Mengede district .
The word Nette is derived from Nyt or Ned and stands for a damp lowland. Originally consisting only of a few farms, divided into Niedernette, Obernette and Dorhöfe, the history of Nette actually began in the middle of the 19th century with the establishment of the Westhausen colliery in Bodelschwingh and the Adolf von Hansemann colliery in Mengede. Towards the end of the 19th century, with the establishment of the "Colonie" called miners' settlement, the district began to grow to its present size. The place is at an altitude of 70 m above sea level. NHN .
On April 1, 1928, Nette was incorporated into Dortmund.
Then as now, Nette is an almost purely residential area in an area that is still partly agricultural. The district is characterized by mixed housing developments. The high-rise estate on Butzstrasse with up to 12-storey residential buildings, which is commonly known as the "BuRiAd-Siedlung", is located in the center of Nette. The eastern area of the district is predominantly characterized by multi-family houses. In the west of Nettes, collieries and one to two family houses dominate the townscape.
Nice has a Catholic and a Protestant church.
Nice is one of the 13 socially disadvantaged districts of Dortmund.

Nice has a school center that includes the Albert-Schweitzer-Realschule and the Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium . The high school started operating in 1972. The secondary school has the longest history (existing since 1920), but was initially located in Mengede and has also been in the new building in Nette since 1972. The building of the former secondary school in Nette is now used jointly by the secondary school and the grammar school, as this has now given way to the Mengede secondary school in the town center.
Sports
The football club DJK Sportfreunde Nette 1920 eV is a sporting part of Nettes' history. In 2006 the club was promoted to the district league.
The sports facility: On the district sports facility in Dortmund-Nette by the indoor swimming pool, around 200 children play in 13 youth teams from ages A-Juniors to F-Juniors, the mini-table football team, as well as two senior teams and one senior team. The sports fans from Nette also have a women's team and a U17 girls' team. The sports facility includes a large field and two small fields, which offer the best possible playing and training opportunities.

Nice has an S-Bahn station called Dortmund-Nette / Oestrich on line S 2 in the direction of Dortmund Hauptbahnhof and Dortmund-Mengede.
The “Obernette” settlement is also served by the U 47 light rail line. The Dortmund Transport Museum has been within walking distance of this tram station since 2001 . It is located in the locomotive hall of the former Hansa coking plant am Mooskamp and offers sightseeing and charter trips with historic trams over old colliery tracks.
