history

The construction of a new grammar school in Nette was decided on February 29, 1972 by the City Council of Dortmund. The Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium started teaching as early as the new school year in August 1972. A pavilion of the newly built Albert Schweitzer Realschule served as the school building. A triple gymnasium was built together with the main building. The topping-out ceremony was on May 19, 1976. In the 1976/77 school year, the company moved to the new main building, and from 1979 the upper school building could also be occupied. In 2013, the Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium moved into the former building of the Nette secondary school. The space gained was used to renovate the Pedagogical Center (PZ) and the main building. The rest of the building is still to be renovated. Immediately after the renovation of the PZ and the main building, severe water damage occurred due to a defective corner valve in a toilet on the 3rd floor. The damage has now been repaired and lessons can continue as usual. Due to this, there was a facade renovation in the direction of the schoolyard by summer 2019. This has now been completed.
