The Immanuel-Kant-Gymnasium (IKG) in Dortmund-Asseln is a municipal high school and currently houses around 1000 students. It is located in the eastern Dortmund district of Asseln and draws its student body mainly from the Brackel and Scharnhorst districts . It was completely renovated from 2015 to 2019 and got a new triple sports hall. The grammar school has had new media equipment since 2018 and is barrier-free.

History and school building

The “municipal high school for boys and girls” was opened in 1969 and shares the main building, which was built in 1974 and completely renovated between 2015 and 2019, with the Max-Born-Realschule in the “Asseln school center” . In addition, the grammar school uses the building of the former secondary school in Asseln, built in autumn 1967, and an intermediate building built in 1998 that connects the two parts of the building.
