David Baramidze (born September 27, 1988 in Tbilisi , Georgian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a German chess grandmaster and junior vice world champion.

Life

Baramidze moved with his family - parents and two sisters - to Germany in 1998, first to Hesse, later to Thuringia and finally to Dortmund. Here he was sponsored by the Dortmund-Brackel club, and was trained by Michael Bezold at times .

At the Dortmund Schachtagen 2002 the 13-year-old David Baramidze defeated the grandmaster Alisa Marić with 4.5 to 3.5 points in a competition . In 2002 he was runner-up at the grand master's tournament in Rostock behind Alexander Naumann and ahead of Uwe Bönsch . In 2003 he won the Neckar Open in Deizisau and in 2004 became the youngest German chess grandmaster to date .

His greatest success was second place in the U16 age group at the 2004 Youth World Cup in Heraklion . At the 2007 World Chess Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk , he was able to eliminate Nigel Short in the first round , but failed in the second round to Leinier Domínguez .

Team chess

National team

In July 2004 Baramidze became European U18 champions with the German youth national team in Belgrade . He took part with the German national team at the 2008 Chess Olympiads in Dresden and 2014 in Tromsø , the 2013 World Team Championship in Antalya and the 2007 European Team Championship in Heraklion and 2013 in Warsaw .

Baramidze played in the Bundesliga chess league in the 2005/06 season for Solingen SG , from 2006 to 2008 for TSV Bindlach shareholder and from 2008 to 2011 for Hamburger SK . He has been working for SV Hockenheim since 2011 . In the Austrian 1st Bundesliga he played for SK Hohenems , with whom he became champion in 2014 and took part in the European Club Cup 2008. In the Dutch Meester class Baramidze played from 2003 to 2005 for Utrecht and from 2005 to 2007 for the Schaakclub Groningen, with which he was Dutch team champion in 2007 , in Belgium from 2003 to 2005 for KSK 47 Eynatten , with whom he was Belgian team champion in 2005 and participated in the European Club Cup 2004.
