Stefan Mohr (* 22. October 1967 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German Chess - Grandmaster .

Career

Mohr learned chess at the age of 11 at the Erdmannhausen chess club (Baden-Württemberg). In 1982 he was German C youth champion (U15) in Fulda and German B youth champion (U17) in Krefeld in 1984 . After his superior victories at international individual tournaments in Budapest (Elekes Memorial) and Schöneck, he was awarded the title of Grand Master by the World Chess Federation FIDE in 1989 .

Having climbed to fourth place in the German Elo ranking, Mohr was appointed to the national team. In 1988 he was used in the international match between the Federal Republic of Germany and the GDR in East Berlin and, together with Klaus Bischoff, achieved the best result of the West German players. In Haifa he represented in 1989 in the European Team Championship , the colors of the German team that won the bronze medal.

After completing his economics studies in Freiburg im Breisgau and Madison (Wisconsin) in 1995, Mohr retired from competitive chess. Today he lives as a senior bank employee in Frankfurt am Main.

His Elo rating is 2413 (as of May 2016), but he is listed as inactive because he has not played a rated game since the 2004 season of the Swiss National League A. He reached his highest rating of 2530 in January 1989.

From 1987 to 1990 and again in the 1992/93 season Mohr was active for VfL Sindelfingen in the German Federal Chess League, from 1990 to 1992 he played for the Solingen chess company , with which he also reached the semifinals of the European Club Cup in 1992 1994/95 season for PSV Duisburg, with which he also took part in the European Club Cup in 1994 and in the 1995/96 season for SK Zähringen in 1921 . In the Austrian State League A he played for SK Hohenems in the 1997/98 season , in the Swiss National League A he played for Rössli Reinach in the 2000 and 2004 seasons.
