Dennis Wagner (born June 19, 1997 in Kassel ) is a German chess player.

Career

Wagner became known at the age of twelve when he became part of the so-called prince group of four boys (the federal junior coach Bernd Vökler ). Thanks to the support and group dynamics, the “princes” should become “kings”, grandmasters, within a few years. In 2011 he became FIDE Master (FM) and 2012 International Master (IM). He fulfilled the required IM standards in April 2011 at the Neckar Open in Deizisau , in March 2012 at the German individual championship in Osterburg and in June 2012 at the Mitropa Cup in Šibenik .

In 2015, Wagner was named Grand Master . He fulfilled the required standards in the 2013/14 season of the German Bundesliga, in November 2014 at the German individual championship in Verden and in December 2014 at the Open in Vandœuvre-lès-Nancy , which he won.

Dennis Wagner took part in the Mitropa Cups in 2012, 2013 and 2015 with the German national team and came second with the team in 2013 and third in 2015. In 2015 he took part in the European Team Championship in Reykjavík with the German team .

He played club chess for the Kassel SK 1876 until 2012 , since then he has been a member of the Bundesliga team of SV 1930 Hockenheim . In France he has been playing for Nice Alekhine since 2016 and in Austria since the 2016/17 season for SK Sparkasse Jenbach , with whom he was Austrian team champion in 2018 and 2020 .
