Hagen Poetsch (born August 27, 1991 in Berlin ) is a German chess player.
successes
In his chess career he was initially only successful as a youth at the state level; at the Hessian youth championships, he almost consistently took first or second place. At the German Youth Championships, in which he participated seven times between 2001 and 2009, he reached 3rd place in 2007 in Willingen (Upland) . In 2009 he became German youth champion at the same place.
His other tournament successes include winning the MVS Open in Großauheim 2010, the First Saturday GM tournament in Budapest in September 2010 and winning the German youth championship with the Hessian team in Stuttgart in the same year. He won the Hessian individual trophy "Golden Springer" twice, in 2010 and 2011. In 2011 he achieved several successes: In Gladenbach he was Hessian runner-up, and was then a cup finalist at the Dähne Cup in Magdeburg , where he lost to Jens Kotainy in the final . In August he won the Schlosspark Open in Wiesbaden . In November he became German rapid chess champion in Forchheim and took third place at the German blitz chess championship in Calbe (Saale) . Poetsch won the Dähne Cup in Kassel in 2013 by beating Sven Telljohann in the final . In 2017 he won the Dähne Cup again in Niedernhausen and became German rapid chess champion for the second time in Magdeburg. In June 2018 Poetsch won the Dähne Cup for the third time in Leipzig .
He has held the title of International Master since 2011 . He achieved the standards for this at the First Saturday GM tournament in Budapest in September 2010, in the B group of the Aeroflot Open in Moscow in February 2011 and at the European Individuals in Aix-les-Bains in March / April 2011. In July In 2018 he was awarded the title of Grand Master .
Until 2010 Poetsch played for VSG 1880 Offenbach , in the 2010/11 season and from the 2013/14 season to the 2016/17 season for the Schachfreunde Schöneck , with whom he became the Hessian lightning team champion. From 2011 to 2013 he played for Wiesbadener SV 1885 , with whom he was represented in the German Chess League in the 2012/13 season . In the 2017/18 season Poetsch is registered for SC Heusenstamm . Since the 2011/12 season he has also played in Austria, initially for the ASVÖ VHS Pöchlarn , in the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons for the SK Advisory Invest Baden ; in the 2015/16 season he played for ASVÖ Wulkaprodersdorf , for which he was also registered in the following two seasons, but remained without use. In the Belgian interclubs he played for the chess friends Wirtzfeld in the 2013/14 season . Since 2010 he has been a member of the C-squad of the German national team.
