Bodo Schmidt (born April 20, 1950 in Porz ) is a German chess player . He won the Dähne Cup in 1971 and 1975 .

His first participation in a German championship was in Saarbrücken in 1968, namely the German Youth Championship (West) , which Karl-Heinz Maeder won. At the International Open in Bern in October 1975, he achieved a standard for achieving the title of International Master . He won there against the grandmaster Iván Faragó, among others . He achieved a second IM standard at the 4th International Bavarian Championship in Bad Wiessee in November 2000.

He played team chess in the German federal chess league for SG Porz , the Solingen chess society and the Godesberg chess club in 1929 .

With the Schachgemeinschaft Porz eV he became German team champion in 1979 , 1982 and 1983 . He made it to the finals in 1975 with the Porzen . He also played for Porz in the game seasons 1980/81 , 1982/83 , 1984/85 , 1985/86 , 1986/87 , 1987/88 , 1988/89 , 1989/90 and 90/91 .

For Solingen he played in the Bundesliga chess league in the playing seasons 1992/93 , 1993/94 and 1994/95 , for the Godesberger Chess Club in 2001/02 and 2005/06 .

He is also successful as a senior. Bodo Schmidt became German Senior Champion 2012.

In 2014 he became a German senior blitz master.

In the European Senior Team Chess Championship he got four points from eight games, winning against Fritz Baumbach .

Others

Bodo Schmidt is a FIDE master and an active member of the 1919 Siegburg chess club . His highest rating was 2450 (January 1976).
