Karsten Schulz (born April 21, 1962 ) is a German chess player . He has held the title of FIDE Master since 1992 . He reached his highest Elo rating in July 2009 with 2384.
From 1987 to 1989 he won the GDR championship in rapid chess three times in a row and in 2001 with the Dähne Cup the German Cup individual championship. At the 87th German Championships in Lübeck in October 2016 , he finished third. In May 2019 he became German senior blitz master in the 50+ group in Radebeul .
In addition, he was individual champion of Brandenburg in 1994, 1995, 2001 and 2002 and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in 2011, 2016 and 2018 . In the seasons 1991/1992 (SC Göggingen Augsburg), 1992/1993 (SK 1908 Göggingen), 2011/2012 (SC Neukloster) and 2015/2016 (SF Schwerin) he played for various clubs in the 2nd Bundesliga .
The State Chess Federation of Brandenburg awarded him the Silver Badge of Honor in 2001.
