Iván Faragó (born April 1, 1946 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian chess player .

Life

Faragó was awarded the title of International Master by FIDE in 1974 , then the title of Grand Master in 1976 .

Faragó won or occupied top places in many tournaments: 2nd place at the Banícky Kahanec tournament in Ostrava (1973), 1./2. Place at the IBM-B tournament in Amsterdam (1975) with John Nunn , 3rd / 4th place Place with Wolfgang Uhlmann at the tournament in Leipzig (1975), 1st place at the tournament in Bergen (1977), 1st – 3rd place. National team

Faragó took part with the Hungarian national team at the 1980 Chess Olympiad in Valletta and achieved second place. Also in his only participation in a team world championship in 1985 in Lucerne , he achieved second place with Hungary. Faragó also took part in the European Team Championships in 1977 in Moscow , 1980 in Skara , 1983 in Plovdiv and 1989 in Haifa . He came second in 1977 and 1980, and third in 1983.

In Hungary, Faragó played in the 1980s for Spartacus Budapest , with whom he won the European Club Cup in 1982 , and from 1999 to 2012 at the latest for Aquaprofit Nagykanizsai Tungsram Sakk-Klub , with whom he was Hungarian team champion in 2007 , 2009 , 2010 , 2011 and 2012 and in 2007 participated in the European Club. He has been playing for Dunaharaszti Munkás Testedző Kör since the 2012/13 season .

In the Austrian 1st Bundesliga and State League he played from 1991 to 1996 for SC Traun 67 , with whom he also took part in the 1995 European Club Cup, in the 2003/04 and 2007/08 seasons for Union Ansfelden (for which he also played in in the meantime was reported, but not used), from 2010 to 2012 for the ASVÖ VHS Pöchlarn and in the season 2012/13 for the SK Sparkasse Fürstenfeld . In the German 1st Bundesliga he played for SV Griesheim from 2012 to 2014 .
