Gergely Antal (born March 20, 1985 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian chess player .

Antal studied economics at Texas Tech University from 2008 to 2010 . After completing his bachelor's degree there, he studied economics at Corvinus University in Budapest from 2004 to 2011 . From 2011 to 2015 he was a risk analyst at Bank Morgan Stanley , and has been a chess professional ever since. He was a member of the university chess club Knight Raider .

Antal has won or occupied top places in several tournaments: 1st place in the Hungarian U-10 championship (1995), 1st place in the Hungarian U-12 championship (1996), 1st place in the First Saturday IM tournament in Budapest (June 2000) and 1st place at the First Saturday GM tournament in Budapest (July 2009).

Antal has held the title of International Master since 2000 and the title of Grand Master since 2011 . He met the required standards at a First Saturday tournament in Budapest in October 2002, at the 30th Open in Oberwart in July 2008 and at a First Saturday tournament in Budapest in October 2010. Before the title was awarded, he met in October / November 2010 at Spice Cup case in Lubbock is another GM standard.

Antal played in Hungary until 2002 with the Miskolci SSC , with which he became Hungarian team champion in 2000 and 2001 and took part in the European Club Cup 2000, from 2002 to 2008 at the Budapesti Egyetemi Atlétikai Club , from 2011 to 2017 at Pénzügyőr Sport Egyesület , he has been playing since 2017 for DVTK Sport Korlátolt Felelősségű Társaság .
