László Gonda (born April 24, 1988 in Tatabánya ) is a Hungarian chess master .

Life

Gonda was named International Master in 2006 after having already met six standards, one in January 2004 at the Szennapack Mad-Day IM tournament in Kaposvár and a total of five standards at the First Saturday tournaments in Budapest between June 2004 and December 2005. In 2010 he was awarded the title of Grand Master , he fulfilled the required standards in May 2006 at the Zalakaros Open and at the GM tournaments of the Budapest tournament series First Saturday in March and April 2010.

He won or occupied top places in several tournaments: 1st place in the Hungarian U12 championship (2000), 1st place in the Hungarian U14 championship (2001), 2nd place in the FS10 IM tournament Budapest (2001), 1st place at the FS12-GM tournament Budapest (2001), 1st place at the FS02-IM tournament Budapest (2003), 2nd place at the FS06-GM tournament Budapest (2004), 1st place Kaposvár (2004), 2nd place at the FS11-GM tournament Budapest (2004), 1st place at the FS03-IM tournament Budapest (2005), 1st place Salgótarján (2005), 2nd place at the FS06-GM tournament Budapest (2006), I. place Balatonlelle (2006 and 2007), I. place Nyíregyháza (2007 and 2010), I. place Hévíz (2008). In January 2015 it was ranked 19th in Hungary's Elo ranking.

Gonda played in the NB I. Szabó László csoport , the highest Hungarian division, in the 2003/04 season for the Miskolci SSC , in the 2007/08 season for Községi Sportegyesület Decs , from 2008/09 to 2011/12 for the Nagykanizsa resident Aquaprofit NTSK , with whom he became four-time Hungarian team champion, and has played for Dunaharaszti MTK since the 2012/13 season . In the German federal chess league he played for SG Trier from the 2007/08 season to the 2016/17 season , and in the Austrian Bundesliga in the 2016/17 season for ASK St. Valentin . Gonda has been playing for Manx Liberty in the British Four Nations Chess League since 2018 and for Slavia Kroměříž in the Czech Extraliga since 2019 .
