Péter Lukács

Péter Lukács (born July 9, 1950 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian chess master .

Life

Lukács became International Master in 1976 and Grand Master in 1986 . He was one of the strongest Hungarian players in the 1970s and 1980s, and in 1980 was national champion at the Hungarian chess championships. So he qualified for the zone tournament in Băile Herculane (1982), where he shared fourth place.

Lukács won or occupied top places in several tournaments: 1st place in Pernik (1976), 1st place in Helsinki (1983), I-II. Place in Vrnjačka Banja (1985), I-II. Place in Polanica-Zdrój (1986), I. Place in Budapest (1987), I-II. Place in Miskolc (1990), I place in Montpellier (1991), I-II. Place in Kecskemét (1991) and twice I-II. Place in Budapest (1994, 1999).

Lukács' Elo rating is 2404 (as of October 2014), but he is listed as inactive because he has not played a rated game since the 2010/11 Hungarian team championship . His best rating was 2520 in July 1987 and July 1997.

National team

Lukács took part with the Hungarian national team in the 1989 World Team Championships and the European Team Championships in 1977, 1980 and 1992. With the team he reached second place in Moscow in 1977 and in Skara in 1980 .

In Hungary, Lukács played for Spartacus Budapest in the 1970s and 1980s , with whom he won the European Club Cup in 1982 .
