László Vadász
László Vadász (* 27. January 1948 in Kiskunfélegyháza ; † 3. January 2005 ) was a Hungarian Chess - Grandmaster .
Vadász was one of the strongest Hungarian players in the 1970s. His first big success was the 5th place in Groningen at the U-20 European Youth Championship in 1967/68. Vadász became International Master in 1975 and Grand Master in 1976. With the Hungarian national team he won the 1978 Chess Olympiad in Buenos Aires , and came second at the European Team Championships in 1977 and 1980. In the Hungarian team championship he last played in the 1999/2000 season with DOZSO SE Pécs in the NB I. Szabó László csoport, the top division, and in the 2000/01 season with the Mat (t) ador SC in the second division, the NB I / B. Maróczy csoport.
Vadász won or shared first place in the following tournaments: Starý Smokovec (1973), Vrnjačka Banja (1975), Budapest (1976), Ulm (1976), Subotica (1978), Bagneux (1978), Esbjerg (1979, The North Sea Cup ) and Zalaegerszeg (1979).
His last Elo number was 2271, but he was listed as inactive because he no longer played an Elo-rated game after the Hungarian team championship 2000/01. Vadász achieved his highest rating of 2505 in January 1978.
