László Bárczay (born February 21, 1936 in Miskolc ; † April 7, 2016 ) was a Hungarian chess grandmaster .

Life

In 1966 he was awarded the international championship title by FIDE , and in 1967 the grandmaster title .

In his only participation in a chess Olympiad in Havana in 1966 , he scored 10 wins and 2 draws as the second reserve player for the Hungarian team (which reached third place) and thus the best individual result on the second reserve board. In addition, Bárczay took part with the Hungarian team at the European team championships in 1970 in Kapfenberg and 1977 in Moscow and each achieved second place.

After the 2005/06 season, in which he was in the third highest Hungarian league, the NB II. Széchenyi csoport , at the Kertvárosi Lakótelepi Sport Club , Bárczay no longer played an Elo-rated game and was therefore from July 2007 at FIDE as inactive.
