Imre Balog (born October 28, 1991 in Békéscsaba ) is a Hungarian chess master .

Balog lives with his parents in Békés , he learned the game of chess from his father at the age of eleven. In chess databases he is listed under the name Imre1 Balog , in the Hungarian chess press as Imre Balog ifj. (German: Imre Balog junior).

Balog won or occupied top places in some tournaments: 1st place in the 25th IM tournament in Balatonlelle (2007) and 1st place in the Hungarian U-18 championship, also in Balatonlelle (2009).

Balog has held the title of International Master since 2007 and the title of Grand Master since 2011 . He fulfilled the required standards in the Hungarian team championship 2009/10 , at a First Saturday tournament in Budapest in June 2010 and in the Romanian first division in Băile Herculane in September 2010.

In the NB I. Szabó László csoport , the highest league of the Hungarian team championship, Balog played for Makói Spartacus Vasas Sportegyesület from 2005 to 2008 and for Pénzügyőr Sport Egyesület from 2008 to 2019 , and in the 2019/20 season he plays for Aquaréna Kőbánya SC . Imre Balog has been playing for KSK 47 Eynatten in the Belgian Interclubs since the 2013/14 season and became Belgian team champion with them in 2014 and 2017 , and in the Slovakian Extraliga he played for ŠK Strelec Devínska Nová from the 2014/15 season to the 2016/17 season Ves ; since 2017 he has competed for the ŠK AQUAMARIN Podhájska . In Germany, Balog has been playing for SV 03/25 Koblenz since 2017 .

With his Elo rating of 2548, Balog is in 16th place in the Hungarian ranking of active players (as of October 2016), and he achieved his highest Elo rating of 2576 in March 2019.
