Zoltán Gyimesi (born March 31, 1977 ) is a Hungarian chess master .

Life

Gyimesi has had the grandmaster title since 1996 . In 2005 he won the Hungarian championship. In the same year he was able to win the European rapid chess championships in Warsaw, defeating old master Viktor Kortschnoi in the semifinals .

He is listed as inactive at FIDE because he has not played a rated game since the French team championship in 2012.

He is married to the women's grandmaster Nóra Medvegy .

National team

Gyimesi represented Hungary at the 1998 , 2002 , 2004 and 2006 Chess Olympiads , with the best result being second place in Bled in 2002 , at the 2001 World Team Championship , where he achieved the third best individual result on the second board, and at the European Team Championships in 1997 and 2003 to 2011 the best result being third place in 2011 in Porto Carras .

In Hungary, Gyimesi first played for Honvéd Budapest , with whom he took part in the European Club Cup 1997, then until 2004 at Miskolci SC , with which he became champions in 2000 and 2001 , and took part in the European Club Cup in 1999 and 2000, and from 2004 to 2012 Csuti Antal SK Zalaegerszeg , with whom he won the team championship in 2005 , 2006 and 2008 and took part in the European Club Cup in 2007. Gyimesi played in the German Federal Chess League in the 1996/97 season and after its resurgence from 2004 to 2012 for the Eppingen chess club , in the Austrian 1st Bundesliga from 2003 to 2008 for Union Ansfelden, with whom he was team champion in 2005 and 2007 and at European Club Cup 2005, and from 2008 to 2012 for SK Sparkasse Jenbach, with whom he became Austrian team champion in 2010 and 2011 .
