Nóra Medvegy (born March 29, 1977 in Tatabánya ) is a Hungarian chess player .

Life

She has a doctorate and is married to the Hungarian grandmaster Zoltán Gyimesi . Her younger brother Zoltán Medvegy is also a grandmaster.

successes

In February 1999 she won the Hungarian women's individual championship, which took place in Miskolc - Lillafüred . After nine games she, like Ildikó Mádl , had six points unbeaten, but defeated Mádl in the tie-breaker. In November 2000 she won the women's prize at the 4th Open International Bavarian Championship in Bad Wiessee . She also received the award for best woman at the Chess Festival in Gibraltar in February 2003, ahead of Pia Cramling . At the Hungarian Women's Championship in Budapest in September 2004 , she was second behind Jelena Dembo .

She played for the Hungarian women's national team at two chess Olympiads , in 1996 and 1998 , with a total of 7.5 points from 12 games (+6 = 3 −3), as well as at the European team championships in 2005 and the Mitropa Cup in 1998, in which the Hungarian Association was the only one to take part with a selection of women.

In Hungary, Honvéd Budapest took part in the European Club Cup 1999 and with MTK Budapest in the European Women's Club Cup 2005 in Saint-Vincent (Aosta Valley) . Before and after, she played for the Statisztika Petőfi Sport Club for a long time (since 2008 Mátyásföldi Lawn Tenis Club ). In the 2016/17 season she competes for DVTK Sport Korlátolt Felelősségű Társaság . She also plays club chess in Croatia.

She has held the title of Women's Grand Master (WGM) since 2002 . Since August 2005 she has also been an International Master (IM). She fulfilled the required IM standards in February 2002 at the Elekes Desző Memorial in Budapest and in the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons of the Hungarian team championship. In February 2015 she was in fifth place in the Hungarian women's Elo ranking.
