Pia Cramling (full name Pia Ann Rosa-Della Cramling ; born April 23, 1963 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish chess player .

Life

Pia Cramling began playing chess at the age of ten in the Huddinger chess club SK Passanten and took part in tournaments for the first time when she was twelve.

At the age of 15, she took part in the women's chess Olympiad for the first time in Buenos Aires in 1978 with the Swedish selection .

As a girl, she played at the first European Youth Championship , the second European Cup for girls in Kikinda in 1978.

Pia Cramling won the gold medal on the first board at the 1988 Chess Olympiad .

In 1983 she was awarded the title of International Master , and in 1992 the title of Grand Master .

Cramling won the European Women's Championship in Istanbul in 2003 and in Rijeka in 2010 .

In July 2007 she won the final of the MonRoi International Women's Grand Prix in Montreal . At the 2008 Women's World Cup in Nalchik , she was eliminated in the semi-finals against Alexandra Kosteniuk .

In February 2012 she won the rapid chess tournament ACP Women Cup Rapid in Tbilisi together with Nana Dsagnidze . At the 2015 Women's World Chess Championship in Sochi , she made it to the semi-finals.

Cramling has been leading the Swedish women's ranking since 1981, and in January 2015 she was eighth in the overall Swedish ranking and 13th in the FIDE women's world rankings . In January 1984 Pia Cramling was alone, in July 1984 together with Zsuzsa Polgár at the top of the women's world rankings.

Pia Cramling has participated in twelve Chess Olympiads since 1978 . She played in the Swedish women's team in 1978 , 1982 , 1984 , 1988 , 2004 , 2008 , 2014 and 2016 and in the open class in 1990 , 1992 , 1996 and 2000 . Cramling achieved the second best result on her board in 1978 (on the reserve board), 1982 and 1984 (each on the first board), and in 2014 (on the top board) the third best individual result; In 1984 and 1988 she achieved the best rating of all participants. Cramling has participated in European team championships four times since 1989 . She played in 1989, 1992 and 1997 in the open class, where she achieved the second-best individual result on the fifth board in 1989, in 2005 in the Swedish women's selection.

In Sweden, Pia Cramling played until 2004 with SK Passanten , who was represented in the top division for years (until 1987 Division I , then Elitserien ). family

Pia Cramling is married to the Spanish Grand Master Juan Manuel Bellón López and is the mother of Anna Cramling Bellon (* 2002), who holds the title of FIDE Women's Champion (WFM). At the 2016 Chess Olympiad , mother and daughter played together for the Swedish team.

Her brother Dan (* 1959) is international champion and won the Swedish individual championship in 1981.
