Viktorija Čmilytė (* 6. August 1983 as Viktorija Cmilyte in Šiauliai ) is a Lithuanian chess player and politician , since 2015 Seimas -member since March 2019 opposition leader in Parliament (first and only politician in this position in Lithuania).

Life

In 2000 she passed the Abitur at Didždvario High School in Šiauliai. In 2001 she studied English philology at the Šiaulių universitetas . From 2002 to 2007 she completed her bachelor's degree at the Philology Faculty of the University of Riga in Latvia .

Čmilytė has been the Women's Grand Master (WGM) since 1999 , has held the title of International Master (IM) since 2001 and that of Grand Master (GM) since 2010 . She fulfilled the GM standards in January 2008 at the GibTelecom Masters in Gibraltar , at the 2009 European Team Championship in Novi Sad and at the 2010 European Women's Individual Championship in Rijeka . In January 2015, she tops the Lithuanian women's rankings and ranks third in the entire Lithuanian rankings. Until September 2001, she was number one on the FIDE junior rankings.

In 1994, she finished sixth of the U12 European Championship of girls and won the 1995 U12 World Cup of female youth in São Lourenço . In the same year she became youth world champion in rapid chess in the U12 female group in Paris . In 2000 and 2005 Čmilytė won the Lithuanian individual championship. In 2007 she won the European Women's Rapid Chess Championship in Predeal . In 2011 she won the European Women's Championship in Tbilisi . In 2013 in Belgrade she finished fourth.

Čmilytė is a liberal politician and a member of LRLS . She has been a Seimas member since April 21, 2015 (instead of Remigijus Šimašius ).

family

She is married to the Dane Peter Heine Nielsen , GM. From 2001 to 2008 she was married to the Russian-Spanish grandmaster Alexei Schirow . She has two children.

Team chess

National team

Čmilytė has participated in eight Chess Olympiads since 1996 . In 2010 she played in the open class on the third board of the Lithuanian team, from 1996 to 2000, from 2004 to 2008 and 2012 in the Lithuanian women's team, where she achieved the best individual results on the first board in 2000 and 2004 . At team European Championships Cmilyte participated five times. In 2009 she played in the open class on the third board of the Lithuanian team, in 1997, 1999, 2007 and 2013 in the Lithuanian women's team, where she achieved the best individual result on the first board in 2013.

In Germany she plays in the women's Bundesliga (which she won in 2007/08 , 2008/09 , 2009/10 , 2010/11 , 2011/12 , 2012/13 , 2014/15 and 2015/16 ) as well as in the 2nd and 3rd Team for OSG Baden-Baden .

The Swedish Elitserien won Viktorija Cmilyte with the SK Rockaden in the seasons 2007/08 , 2008/09 and 2013/14 , the Danish Skakligaen they won with Helsinge SK in the 2008/09 season , and the British Four Nations Chess League won she in the 2004/05 and 2005/06 seasons with Wood Green .

The Russian team championship of the women won Cmilyte 2008 FINEC-1 Saint Petersburg , 2010 with the Chess Federation Saint Petersburg and 2014 Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk , the European Club Cup for women, in which nine times participated in total, 2011 AVS Krasnoturinsk .
