Ekaterina Atalık (born November 14, 1982 in Kirow as Jekaterina Lwowna Polownikowa) is a Turkish-Russian chess player who holds the titles of Women's Chess Grand Master ( WGM) and International Master (IM).
Individual tournaments
In 1997 she won the European U16 Youth Championship in Tallinn . In April 2006 she won the seventh European Women's Individual Championships held in the Turkish city of Kuşadası . In January 2016 she won the 15th International Chess Festival in Prague with 8 points from 9 games. Atalık won the Turkish Women's Championship in 2008 and 2016.
Team tournaments
She played for Russia's second team in the 1998 Women's Chess Olympiad in Elista and for Turkey in 2006 in Turin . She also took part in the European Women's Team Championships in 1999 in Batumi for Russia, 2007 in Heraklion and 2015 in Reykjavík for Turkey. At the European Club Cup Women Atalik took part since 2000 six times. In the team ranking she reached second place with Michail Chigorin Saint Petersburg in 2000 , in 2004 with FINEK Saint Petersburg and 2010 with Saint Petersburg , in the individual ranking she achieved the best result on the fourth board in 2010, the second best result on the second board in 2004 and the third best in 2014 Result on the third board.
In the German women's Bundesliga she has been playing for SK Schwäbisch Hall since the 2014/15 season , Atalık played in the French top 12 women in 2019 for La tour de Juvisy . She played for Chengdu in the Chinese team championship in 2019 and for Manx Liberty in the British Four Nations Chess League in the 2019/20 season . With the Württemberger team, she won the German national team championship in Braunfels in 2017 .
Private
Since November 11, 2005, she has been married to the Turkish Grand Master Suat Atalık (* 1964) and has acquired Turkish citizenship.
She has topped the Turkish women's Elo list since she changed associations.
