Nana Dzagnidze ( Georgian ნანა ძაგნიძე; born January 1, 1987 in Kutaisi ) is a Georgian chess player and reigning world champion in women's blitz chess . Her surname is written Dzagnidze at the German Chess Federation and the World Chess Federation FIDE .

Chess development

Dzagnidze learned chess from her father very early, as soon as she could walk. She has been holding the title of Chess Grand Master (GM) since November 2008. She had already become the Women's Grand Master (WGM) in August 2003. In 2004 she had received the title of International Master (IM), she had been International Master of Women (WIM) since 2001. In January 2015 she led the Georgian women's rankings, her best place in the women's world rankings was fourth place she was in November 2009, September and December 2014 and January 2015.

Individual championships

She won the Georgian U12 championship. She became European champion in the U10 female age group in 1997 in Tallinn . At the U10 World Cup for girls in Cannes in the same year , she was tied for second place with K. Humpy . In 1999 she was U12 girls' world champion in Oropesa del Mar, Spain and European champion in the same age group in Litochoro . At the U14 World Cup for girls in 2000 in Oropesa del Mar, she was second, again tied with K. Humpy. In 2001, again in Oropesa del Mar, she became world champion in the U16 age group. In June 2002 she won the International Youth Sports Games in Moscow ahead of Sergei Karjakin , in November of the same year, again at the U16 Girls' World Cup, she was second in Heraklion, tied with Tamara Tchistiakowa. 2003 was her most successful year so far: at the beginning of the year she became Georgian women's champion in Tbilisi , then Georgian U20 champion in spring. In the middle of the year she won the junior world champion with a large margin in Naxçıvan, Azerbaijan , scoring 9.5 points from 11 games, after which Dsagnidze won the U18 world championship for girls in Kallithea (Chalkidiki) towards the end of the year (with 9 out of 11 with one point Head Start). In June 2004 she won the Georgian women's championship again in Tbilisi, and in December 2004 she won the Maia Chiburdanidze Cup in Tbilisi . In January 2006 she was in Tbilisi at the Georgian women's championship behind Nino Khurzidze second. In March 2008 she won the Georgian women's championship in Tbilisi for the third time. In January 2009 she won the women's prize at the Chess Congress in Gibraltar . In July 2010 she won the Women's Grand Prix tournament in Jermuk with 9 points from 11 games. In 2012 she won the rapid chess tournament ACP Women Cup Rapid in Tbilisi with Pia Cramling . In April 2017 she won the European Women's Championship in Riga . She achieved her greatest success in December 2017 when she won the Women's Blitz Chess Championship in Riyadh .

Team chess

Dzagnidze has participated in all chess Olympiads with the Georgian women's team since 2004 . Georgia won the 2008 Chess Olympiad in Dresden , at the 2012 Chess Olympiad in Istanbul Dsagnidze took second place behind Hou Yifan in the individual ranking on the top board . At the 2014 Chess Olympiad in Tromsø , she achieved the best result on the first board. At World Team Championships Women Dsagnidse took four times (2009, 2011, 2013 and 2017) in part, the best result was third place in each of 2011 in Mardin and 2017th

Since 2003 Dsagnidse has nine team European Championships attended the women. In 2007 she won the individual ranking in Heraklion on the fourth board and in 2019 in Batumi on the first board and reached the second place with the team in 2005 in Gothenburg , 2009 in Novi Sad , 2017 in Limenas Chersonisou and in 2019.

Dsagnidse has taken part in the Women's European Club Cup 14 times since 2002 and won it in 2004 and 2005 with NTN Tbilisi , in 2008 with Cercle d'Echecs Monte Carlo and in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2019 with Nona Batumi . In addition, she achieved the best individual result on the second board in 2005, in 2007 (playing for Interplast Tbilisi ) and in 2008 on the third board. She won silver medals in the team competition in 2003 with NTN Tiflis , in 2006 with Energy-Investi Sakartvelo and in 2011 with AEM-Luxten Timişoara , in the individual competition in 2006 and 2014 on the top board. In 2002 she reached third place with NTN Tbilisi .

Dsagnidse won the German national chess league for women in the 2004/05 season with SC Baden-Oos after she had actually already signed a contract with the Karlsruhe Chess Friends . Otherwise, she plays in Georgian (for Interplast Tiflis ), Turkish (for Adana Truva ), Iranian (for Bayat Beton Gilan ), Romanian (for CSU Brașov ), Chinese (2007 for the team from Nankai University from Tianjin , 2009 for the Bank of Qingdao , 2010 for the Shandong Linglong Tire team , with which they won the championship, 2013 and 2015 for Hebei Sports Lottery , 2016 and 2017 for Hangzhou , 2018 for Chengdu and 2019 for Shenzhen Longgang ), French (for Montpellier ) and Serbian Leagues team chess .
